The Liberty Flames and the East Tennessee State (ETSU) Buccaneers have rescheduled their future soccer sport, FBSchedules.com has realized.
Liberty and ETSU scheduled a pair of video games again in February 2020 that had been set to be performed at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va., on Oct. 29, 2023 after which once more two seasons afterward Oct. 25, 2025.
Each video games had been scheduled when Liberty was a Soccer Bowl Subdivision (FBS) Unbiased and previous to the Flames becoming a member of Convention USA. On account of Liberty becoming a member of a convention, the Flames needed to cancel a number of future non-conference contests.
In July 2022, Liberty formally introduced their 2023 non-conference schedule, which included solely 4 contests and ETSU was not among the many opponents.
In accordance with a doc obtained by FBSchedules.com from ETSU through a state public information request, the 2023 contest was canceled and neither group will owe a penalty. In a separate doc obtained from ETSU, the 2 faculties agreed to reschedule the 2025 contest for Sept. 8, 2029 and Liberty pays ETSU a $425,000 assure for the sport.
Liberty and ETSU first met on the gridiron in 1985 and have performed 5 occasions total. Of their most up-to-date matchup in 2003, the Flames traveled to Johnson Metropolis, Tenn., and fell to the Buccaneers 33-23, which dropped them to 0-4-1 within the collection.
