The College of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros are set to kickoff their inaugural season of soccer in 2025 within the United Athletic Convention (UAC).
UTRGV was initially introduced as a member of the Western Athletic Convention (WAC) earlier than the league partnered with the ASUN Convention and later rebranded because the United Athletic Convention.
Starting with UTRGV’s first 12 months of competitors, the Vaqueros shall be acknowledged as a full member of Division I FCS, eligible for the FCS Playoffs, and can play a full UAC schedule. The Vaqueros plan to play a apply season within the Fall of 2024 that won’t rely in the direction of NCAA information.
Forward of UTRGV’s soccer launch, the college has scheduled its first Soccer Championship Subdivision (FCS) contests, which is a home-and-home collection with the Houston Christian (HCU) Huskies. The Vaqueros plan to play at least one football game per season at Memorial Stadium in Brownsville, Texas. The rest of their dwelling video games will possible be contested at HEB Park in Edinburg, Texas. HEB Park, which has a seating capability of 9,735, is the house of the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros soccer group of the USC Championship.
